Glass Block Flourish and Initial

10:57 AM 0 Comments

I am excited to show you how my glass block turned out. I have seen a lot
of glass blocks out on the web but have not been to thrilled to do them. I came
across findingtimetocreate.blogspot.com where the lady created her own flourish
and initial. (Check out her site) She did a wonderful job on her vinyl cut out. She inspired
me to try one for myself. I like how it came out, the only thing I didn't like
was when I went to weld everything together it changed the curves and made
them look kinda sloppy. So I will need to do some more tweaking on my SVG
file to get it to look exactly the way I want.

I bought the glass block at home depot for $4.95. I chose the glass block that had a
decorative design on it instead of the clear block. The clear block did not look as
good because you can see the strand of lights which is distracting to your eyes.
I recommend using the decorative block it covers up the lights better.
You can still see some out line of the lights but its not as bad.

This view of the glass block is from the top looking down and with the light off.
As you can see, the strand of lights are pretty visible and this is the decorative
block. If this was the clear block you would be able to see the individual lights.
I finished off the block by wrapping a wide gold ribbon around it and then
hot glued a bow on the top of the block.

So there you have it, a fun project that is fairly easy to do.
Thanks for stopping by.

Hugs & Kisses Box

6:21 PM 0 Comments

This 15 compartment box looked so cute I just had to make it.  I was looking for something different to make that would look nice on a teachers desk.  In side each compartment I placed a Hershey Kiss so that at anytime the teacher can open the box door and eat a piece of sanity. I found the box on http://qbeesquest.blogspot.com/  (Brenda Quintana) This women is a very clever crafter. Please go and visit her blog and you will see what I mean. She has graciously put together a tutorial on how to make these box. The tutorial is very easy to follow and the measurements actually work perfectly. Thank you so much Brenda for sharing your talents with me.

Close to My Heart supply list to make this box.
                                                   My Reflections "Pemberley" paper pack
                                                  Ink colors          Outdoor denim, Bamboo,
Stamp sets         Cricut Artiste Word Balloons
                                                                            Wonderful You
                                                                 Cricut "Artiste" Flower

I used tiny pearl beads for the center of the flowers and some
honey brads that I had on hand. The Fancy tags I used for
the top of the box was my own svg file. The world hugs & kisses is
from the stamp set " Cricut Artiste Collection Word Balloon" .
The Cricut Artiste was created by Provo Craft to go along
with Close to My Heart stamps. I cut out the balloon at "2 and
then stamped my image right on the cut out balloon.

The bottom fancy tags are the same size as the one I use at the top
of the box. The front of each box was stamped using the
"Wonderful You stamp" set and then I cut around each image
to fit better on the box door.

I hope you will go to qubee quest to see the tutorial and then try this yourself I think you will be
amazed how fun and beautiful this project is. Also check out how qbee quest uses this box for
other project through out the year.
